Accomplishments

  • Demonstrated demand for Empowerment Centers by increasing the number of participants served in a year from 50 in 1997 to 670 in 2002
  • Empowered participants to make real & significant changes in their lives in the areas of: personal finance, housing, employment, education and social engagement.
  • Established a proven methodology for goal setting and computer training
  • Spearheaded a collaborative effort to create MVHUB.com, an online community resource guide containing detailed information on over 300 programs, allowing the individuals and agencies of Greater Lowell access to information on valuable resources
  • Developed a self-paced, self directed project based training tool for teaching the computer that allows people to set their own schedules and greatly increases participants' ability to utilize the computer for their goals
  • Established New Beginnings as a preferred referral source for the Greater Lowell Department of Employment and Training
  • Created a truly open and diverse environment in every sense of the word by serving all ages, races, cultures and abilities
  • Identified the immense potential empowerment centers have to engage people civically and socially through non-partisan register to Vote and Voter Education campaigns.
  • Established Advancement Plus's great potential to unleash the greatness in individuals and engage people civically.
