Advancement Plus offers a wide variety of services to its
participants and the community through its New Beginnings Program.
These include:

Self-paced, self-directed, supervised computer training in Typing,
Basic Skills, Microsoft Office, the Internet and Email, 5 days and 4
nights a week.

Seminars on: Resume Writing, Budgeting, Cleaning-up Credit, Going
back to College, Home Buying, Buying a Computer, Genealogy.

One-On-One Goal Setting

VITA Tax Preparation Assistance

Referral and follow-up to outside resources

Assistance understanding different government programs, and
consumer rights

Supplemental computer training support through tutoring &
seminars

Open access to MVHUB.com an
on-line community resource guide, that contains up-to-date
information on over 300 programs in the Greater Lowell Area

Open computer access to the general public

A social & intellectual outlet for the elderly, unemployed and
disabled

Technical advice and consultation to local non-profits

A place to turn when there is no place else
These services are currently at risk due to cutbacks in our
funding. In the last year, New Beginnings has had to cut back
its staff 5 Full-time and one part-time, 1 full time, and 4 part-time staff. This has resulted in a
cutback in hours and services. All this is occurring while the
demand and need for service is greater than ever due to the economy.
