Founder and Board Member

"I began working with New Beginnings in late 1996 as part of the start-up team whose goal was to develop a program that would empower people to put themselves in the position to attain their personal, employment,  and economic  goals. With four years of formal teaching experience, and over 20 years of business experience, this opportunity to merge my values with my skills was just what I was looking for.

My life's goals for the next two years (by which time I'll have re-thought them) are totally in step with New Beginnings' goal-oriented philosophy.  My goals are:

1.  LIVE MY VALUES.  New Beginnings is a program that is designed to fit into the lives of its participants (which includes us as staff members).  The most important thing in my life is to live my values, and the spirit and ethic of New Beginnings allows me to do that at work, and encourages me to do so at home and with friends, too.  This is my most important goal, and has many elements that are meaningful to me.

2.  MY JOB.  Develop the Grocery Purchasing Program at New Beginnings which will provide some jobs for participants, and also some financial support for the education program.  This is my primary job for the foreseeable future, and I like it because it both fits in with the goals of New Beginnings, and has an element of starting a new business that is exciting for me.

3.  EDUCATION.  Learn more about various computer programs myself (especially the Internet and how to host my own web page), but also to help develop a program that delivers useful education to New Beginnings participants."
