Resume Advice From MSN and Monster.com 
This site offers 10 short articles on resume writing. The articles include: "Tips for Creating a Concise Resume", "More than One Goal", "Ten Resume Don'ts", "Use Numbers to Highlight Your Accomplishments", and "Overqualified You."  These articles help you better understand the purpose of a resume, as well as address the tricky questions of: How long should my resume be?  If I am applying for different kinds of jobs, do I need more than one resume? What kind of resume is best for me?

Mike Farr's Online Get a Job! Workshop
This site contains good basic information on writing a resume, as well as a more detailed comparison of different types of resumes.  The section on types of resumes also has examples, and discusses the advantages and disadvantages of each kind of resume.

In addition to resume advice, it also has some good tips on job search, cover letters, interviewing and salary negotiations.

Quintessential Careers' Transferable Skills Articles
This link will take you to Quintessential Careers' Transferable Skills page which has links to a number of articles on transferable skills.  They discuss their importance, as well as give you some examples.

The website as a whole also contains a number of resources for the job-seeker including a series of tutorials.  The Resume Tutorial we went through was fairly solid, and might be worth checking out.  If it were not for the pop-up ads that constantly appeared each time we clicked "next" on the tutorial, we would whole heartedly endorse this tool.

Cyberstation's "The Skills Zone"
This link will briefly explains transferable skills and their importance, as well as has an extensive list of example skills.  This is a good page to go to help you identify your own transferable skills.

Cover Letters

WetFeet.com's "Five Rules to a Better Cover Letter"
This site contains a brief but useful breakdown of what is needed in a successful cover letter.
